Little something...

...I found while looking for batman and robin pictures. It's terrific (make sure and click on it to see the large version)

Stuff I'm reading...

I've really been digging Grant Morrison's new Batman and Robin book. Morrison's been doing batman stories for a while now, getting a lot of press for supposedly "killing" off big B. Following bat's death the title has switched over to Grayson and and Damian (robin (1) and bruce's son) as the title characters and Morrison has changed the title to pure pop superhero kung fu action fun (that's a weird sentence) I really love that the same guy that gives us stuff like we3 and the filth can give us such a pure and fun superhero book. When the artist he's working on is up to the same speed as him (Quitely and Stewart) this book is perfect. If you read any of Grant's amazing All star Superman then you owe it to yourself to check out the first three issues where him and Quitely reunite their dream team. Yeah I know I'm gushing, but my crush on this book really knows no bounds right now. The romance started yesterday when I picked up the latest issue from the shop, Morrsion's got the new bat in London gearing up for a big fist of fury fight and dropped about twenty great new ideas without skipping a beat. He even brought in the new uber-cool batwoman for no reason other than Grant must be reading my diary (or possibly....my dreams?)

this is the issue

Stuff I like...

This is a guy I've been enjoying for a while. Duncan Fegredo has been in the game for a while but its been his recent Hellboy work that's really put him on the map. If you read any of that stuff you know just how crazy he is. From his Darkness Calls arc till now he's been so fantastic I really don't care if Mignola ever stops cashing his movie royalty checks and eating donuts. The best place to start I think would be darkness calls #3, when the wolves come come out of the woods to save HB from the army of zombie vikings...it's just...Wow. I don't think his style is something I can look to for my new book, but its just my cup of gravy. This is some samples

Some more Hercules work.

Still working on Hercules and his partner, still not fully there on his definitive look. Need to work more, hopefully he'll reveal himself in my labor.

Stuff I'm working on

Here's a taste of what I got so far: some cart studies, 1920's boxer, and typical Hercules sketch. I think the boxer is the one that is most interesting and will probably end of influencing the look of my Hercules the most. (I'm doing a comic about Hercules set in the 1920's. hopefully.)Also, I don't seem to know how to upload pictures properly into posts, so if anyone knows the ins and outs to that and wants to leave a comment with tips, you would be pretty cool.

Stuff I like #1

this is someone I've enjoyed recently. The artist is Ben Stenbeck, a New Zealand based comic artist who just did some work for the Mignola books. If you pick up anything of his you'll notice he likes to vary his detail on people, but it never feels like he's being sloppy or quick about it. He comes from that group of guys which are obviously very influenced by Mignola but have taken it in a positive and original direction. His website is full of good stuff, and he seems to have some talent in traditional painting as well. http://www.benstenbeck.com/ check it out!
